RESIDENTIAL PERMIT CUSTOMERS - The city of Phoenix Planning & Development Department is excited to share SHAPE PHX, the new Land Management Information System, with you. SHAPE PHX officially launched on June 6, 2022 with Release 1.


Release 1 includes Residential single-family and duplex units for building plan review / permits and Registrations only.
Residental Plan Review and Permit types:
Demolitions, New Custom Home, Additions, Remodel, Accessory Structures, Mobile Home Placement, Repairs/Replacement, Pools, Fences, Residential Permit By Inspection, and Online Permits/Clearances
Licenses and Registration types: Journeyman, Apprentice, Special Inspector, Self-Certification and Peer Registrations, Elevator Operating Permits, and Fire Dept. Annual Operating Permit Registrations.


All users submitting for items in Release 1 will need to create a new user account to use the SHAPE PHX system. To create a SHAPE PHX account, visit the SHAPE PHX Portal (phoenix.gov) homepage. Portal Account Creation Tutorial video and Customer Portal Guide can be found at Planning and Development SHAPE PHX (phoenix.gov). Users that have projects in Release 1 and future releases will work out of PDD Online, ProjectDox and SHAPE PHX portals.

To check on the progress of the plan review through the INTERNET, you may do the following:

Then the fastest way to look is by the log number (i. e. LPRM, LPRR, LPRT, RVSN) of your project.

Plans submitted for the building permit have been checked for conformance with the current adopted codes: 2012 IBC, 2012 IEBC, IRC, 2012 IMC, 2012 IFGC, 2012 IFC, 2012 IECC, 2011 NEC, 2012 International 2012 UPC or 2012 IPC and 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design & ICC ANSI A117.1-2009. Corrections required are noted below, however not all may be listed. Therefore, please also see the corrections noted on the plans. All corrections must be made to the original drawings. Two new corrected sets along with the original redlined set must be resubmitted along with any returned documents including calculations, soil report etc.

1. Sheet CS1.1 ----- Section 107 (Submittal Documents) of IBC 2012. Comply with new codes in effect at City of Phoenix. Make all ADA codes a part of your list, see list above for the latest editions adopted for the City of Phoenix.*

2 Sheet A1.1 ----- Section 1109.11 (Seating at tables, counters and work surfaces) of IBC 2012. A portion of fix seating (5%) shall be accessible to your business; indicate on plans accessible seats, booths etc... etc. and show locations. * Identify ADA seating on your CS1.1 & A1.1plan.

3. Sheet A1.1 ----- Section 1607.14 (Interior wall and partitions) of IBC 2012. Provide at non-bearing wall detail; show stud height, gage and bracing connections at top and bottom, call out an approved anchor such as ICC-ES, UL, etc....etc...etc...

4. Sheet A.2 ----- Table 508.4 (Required separations of occupancies ) of IBC 2012. Please comply with this table for your occupancy separations.

5. Sheet A5.1 ----- Section 1008.1.10 (Panic and fire exit hardware) of IBC 2012. Please comply with this section for your A or E occupancy. *
